Understanding the effectiveness of VR soft-skills training in the enterprise
PwC's virtual reality study addresses a new dilemma employers are facing: Their workers need to upgrade their skills, learn new ones or complete compliance training, but in-person training may not be an option in the current environment. Yet, training is especially important now, as employees strive to learn skills, and it may become even more critical when workers start returning to a changed workplace. How can employers deal with this challenge? One solution to this training quandary comes from an unexpected place: virtual reality. VR is already known to be effective for teaching hard skills and job skills simulations, such as pilots using VR-based flight simulations. But many employees also need to learn soft skills, such as leadership, resilience and managing through change.
What does virtual reality and the metaverse mean for training?
VR offers an affordable, effective, remote-friendly way to provide employees with not only technical skills, but also “soft” skills such as leadership and resilience.
With more than half of companies already integrating VR into strategy, it’s a good time for many companies to start or accelerate VR learning.
The rise of the metaverse is creating further opportunities for VR-based upskilling and collaboration.
